Find the Drawing

What to do when you open a drawing and find a blank screen.

It can be a bit if a surprise when you open a drawing for the first time in QSCad only to be presented with a blank screen.  Now we have made it easier than ever to locate the elusive drawing you were expecting to see.

As we wrote back in our newsletter back in September 2008 there is no need to panic as

“This is commonly caused by the fact that when opening a drawing QSCad zooms the drawing to its full extents in order to display all that the drawing contains. On occasions this causes the screen to appear blank due to some data positioned on the drawing a significant distance from the site or main drawing and this data causes the system to zoom out to such a distance that the drawing, although displayed, is simply a miniscule dot.”

Back in 2008 we suggested that users could either zoom to a previous view or crop the drawing to solve the problem but with the release of QSCad Version 3.10 it is now easier than ever as the user can ask the system to do the work by selecting Locate Hidden Drawing from the View menu.

QSCad will scan the drawing and display anything that it finds that could be the drawing that you are looking for and at the same time provides you with the opportunity to create a user-defined view so you can find it easily in the future.

Furthermore we have improved QSCad so that it remembers the part of the drawing that was displayed on the screen when you closed the drawing so that next time you open the drawing you will be able to carry on just where you left off.
