Abu Dhabi Revisited

One year on we returned to see if our software had delivered the expected benefits.

We recently had an opportunity to revisit the 2,988,000,000 AED (£500,000,000) Zayed University Project in Abu Dhabi.  During the visit we were able to review how their investment in Masterbill software had benefitted the Main Contractor Al Habtoor/Murray & Roberts. 

Users reported the following key benefits:

Masterbill Elite

• Using a Standard Library of Descriptions enabled them to ensure consistency between all users and all parts of the Project.  The ability to select descriptions rather than have to create them was also seen as a major time saving.
  
• Re-use of Data – Zayed University consists of a number of almost identical buildings this meant than measurements produced for one building could be copied and adapted to suit another building and a significant amount of time saved in the process.
  
• Full Sortation – this allowed the QS’s to measure the Project in Elements and then produce Sub Contract and/or Trade BQs in next to no time.  In fact this meant they often received requests from the Construction Managers to extract certain items for certain Buildings whilst they waited.
  
• Masterbill Elite enabled Junior Surveyors to see the process through to completion rather than having to hand their measurements over to Senior Surveyors to complete the BQ production, thus providing both a time and cost saving.
